We just returned from a family vacation in the Wasatch Mountain range in Utah. That’s near Heber City (home of Soldier Hollow, location of a few Olympic events in 2002) and Park City (home of several over venues, including the ski jump). We travel to this area every other year, and we love how the whole area is really geared towards outdoor activitity. Hiking, biking, skiing (of course), camping, backpacking, climbing, boating, you name it.
In Iowa, we pat ourselves on the back over a few measley miles of paved multi-use trails. The Park City area has enough (nonpaved) trails to warrant its own book. We could hike all day every day for a year and probably still not see every trail just in that one area. Heaven…
Getting back to earth, while we were there, we picked up the current edition of the ReDirect Guide, the Healthy and Sustainable Lifestyles Directory.
This guide is what I want for Iowa. This is what I want Natural Living Des Moines to be. This is my goal.
Not just the guide. But what’s in it.
One Restaurant that serves only raw foods, and two others that serve a partial raw menu. Naturopaths. A Naturopathic Dentist. Organic beauty salons. Heck, REI! Wild Oats! Man.
So check it out, drool a bit, then do two things:
1) Send me information on businesses that should be included in our directory.
2) List businesses or types of businesses you’d like Des Moines to have. Figure out how to make it happen. Make it happen. Then send me the info!
