I know some area Hy-Vees have Buy Fresh Buy Local signs they place near locally-grown produce (which I appreciate). Now there is a directory available, as well.
Snippets below from the Register.
A new directory of 89 farms and businesses selling local foods in central Iowa will be released today at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market.
The directory, which includes 71 farms, 13 restaurants, four grocers and one kitchen supply shop, will be available at Drake University’s Buy Fresh Buy Local booth.
Drake’s goal is to build a network of local farms, restaurants, food retailers, food processors and consumers to increase the production and sales of fresh, local food.
PS, once I get my own directory, you can be betting I’ll be adding the Des Moines area listings to the Resources page!
